February 04, 2008 – In Prince George’s County Maryland, a new collaboration is underway to strengthen the area’s non-profit community. County leaders from the public, private, and non-profit sector converged on the TreeTops Atrium in Landover to launch the “Partnership for Prince George’s County.” Known simply as the Partnership, the project’s goal is to create a network for the region’s philanthropic groups. Prince George’s County Council Chairman David Harrington says while there are about 25,000 active non-profits in the county, almost 99 percent are small, “mom-and-pop” shops with limited resources. The Partnership hopes to raise about $300,000 this year.”
